The Junior Advisory Board (JAB) is a group of passionate 10th–12th graders who serve as leaders and advocates for SYT. This group gives youth a voice at SYT, offering input on shows, helping with classes and summer camps, and producing the annual Senior Showcase.​

Rising 10th-12th graders interested in joining JAB can apply each spring.

​JAB Requirements

Applications for the 2027-2028 JAB will be available in April 2027.

To remain in JAB and participate in the Senior Showcase, members must meet all requirements below.

Eligibility

  • Must be a rising 10th–12th grader.

  • Must have completed one of the following:

    • Participated as cast and/or crew in at least 2 SYT mainstage productions within the past two seasons
      OR

    • Participated in 1 SYT mainstage production within the past two seasons and completed at least 1 advanced-level class or camp within the past year.

Commitment

  • Serve a one-year term.

  • Attend JAB meetings on the 1st Thursday of each month (4:30–5:30 PM).

    • Maximum of:

      • 1 unexcused absence in fall

      • 1 unexcused absence in spring

    • Missing all meetings in a semester will result in dismissal from JAB.

Service Requirements

  • Assist with at least 1 week-long summer camp.

  • Participate in the Senior Showcase.

Participation Points

Members must earn 80 JAB Participation Points through activities such as:

  • Cast member or stage manager in an SYT/SLT production
    — 30 points per production

  • Crew member in an SYT/SLT production
    — 20 points per production

  • Additional week-long summer camp assistance
    — points vary

  • Additional fall or spring class assistance (aside from your 1 required class)
    — 20 points per class

  • Work the Stargrams table for an SYT production
    — 5 points per production

  • Other approved activities/events
    — points determined case-by-case

Failure to meet these requirements may result in dismissal from JAB and ineligibility for the Senior Showcase.
