At The Spartanburg Youth Theatre, you’ll find:

Whether you are an aspiring performer or designer or just want to build confidence and make new friends, the Spartanburg Youth Theatre is the place to be! Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please remember to register early, as many of our classes fill up quickly.

Tuition:

- Tuition may be paid in full at the time of registration or you may pay half the cost at the time of registration and the remainder no less than 7 days prior to the first day of camp.

Scholarships:

- Scholarships are available. CLICK HERE or the button to the right to submit a scholarship application.

- Scholarship applications are due by 5pm on Friday, January 31, 2020. Scholarship applicants will be notified of their scholarship status the week of February 3-7, 2020.

 

Early Registration Discount!

- Register before 5pm on Friday, January 31, 2020 and receive $10 off the cost of each class. Early registration discounts do not apply to K4-K5 classes.

- When registering online, the price listed includes the $10 discount.

 
Cancellation:

- If you cancel no later than 7 days before the first day of your camp, tuition less a $30 Class Cancellation Fee will be refunded. If you cancel less than 7 days before the first day of your class, only a refund or credit of 50% of the tuition cost will be issued.

- Once classes have started, no refunds will be given.

2020 Spring Theatre Classes

10-week classes begin the week of Feb 17-20, 2020, and end the week of Apr 27-May 1, 2020.

Actor's Studio:Act 2 is a 12-week class with a varying class schedule listed in the description below.

IMAGINATION & PLAY

K4-K5

Our 10-week classes for rising K4-K5 explore creative play, music and art, while learning acting and storytelling techniques. The semester culminates in a sharing of activities and stories for family and friends.

Spaceship Exploration
Mondays | Grades K4-K5 | 4:00-4:45pm | $90 | 10 weeks
Class enrollment: 5 minimum | 10 maximum
Explore the endless beyond of space as you float on the moon, drive a spaceship to mars, and land safely back on earth!

Classes will not meet the week of district 7 spring break, March 30-April 3, 2020.

 

This class will meet weekly on Mondays for 10 weeks starting Monday, February 17, 2020. The final class will be on Monday, April 27, 2020.

ACTOR-IN-TRAINING
1st-2nd grade

 

Our 10-week classes for the energetic youngster continue to develop teamwork, self-expression, and imagination, while introducing acting techniques and stage movement skills through a specific fun setting. The semester culminates in a sharing of activities and stories for family and friends.

Superheroes Unite!
Tuesdays | Grades 1st-2nd | 4:00-5:15pm | $125 | 10 weeks
Class enrollment: 5 minimum | 10 maximum
 
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a superhero! Create your own supergirl or suberboy complete with super-suit and extraordinary super powers!

Classes will not meet the week of district 7 spring break, March 30-April 3, 2020.

This class will meet weekly on Tuesdays for 10 weeks starting Tuesday, February 18, 2020. The final class will be on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.

TECHNIQUE CLASSES
3rd-6th
grade

Our 10-week technique classes for rising 3rd-6th graders introduce theatre techniques for those who are curious, and provide intermediate-level performance opportunities for those who are ready for the next step of the theatre process. Each class ends with a final performance for family and friends.

Acting Foundations
Thursdays | Grades 3rd-6th | 4:00-5:15pm | $125 | 10 weeks
Class enrollment: 5 minimum | 12 maximum
Are you interested in acting but not quite sure where to start? We’ve got you covered! You will leave the class with a strong foundation in stage performance and a newfound sense of self-expression.

Classes will not meet the week of district 7 spring break, March 30-April 3, 2020.

This class will meet weekly on Thursdays for 10 weeks starting Thursday, February 20, 2020. The final class will be on Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Musical Theatre: Frozen & Frozen II
Wednesdays | Grades 3rd-6th | 4:00-5:15pm | $125 | 10 weeks
Class enrollment: 5 minimum | 16 maximum
It’s time to “let it go” and venture “into the unknown!” You will learn introductory singing and dancing techniques through songs and choreography from the hit Disney musicals Frozen & Frozen II.

Classes will not meet the week of district 7 spring break, March 30-April 3, 2020.

This class will meet weekly on Wednesdays for 10 weeks starting Wednesday, February 19, 2020. The final class will be on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDIOS
6th-9th grade

Our 10-week middle school studios for 6th-9th graders provide advanced theatre techniques, and an in-depth look at the theatrical production process. Classes will end with a performance for family and friends.

Actor's Studio: Act 1
Wednesdays | Grades 6th-9th | 4:00-5:30pm | $125 | 10 weeks
Class enrollment: 5 minimum | 12 maximum
Recommended for students with previous experience onstage, this class will dive into advanced theatre techniques and vocabulary, culminating in a performance. Actors interested must submit an application.
 
Pre-requisite: Relevant acting class/camp at SYT or elsewhere, or previous stage experience; submit an application

Musical Theatre: Dear Evan Hamilton
Thursdays | Grades 6th-9th | 4:00-5:15pm | $125 | 10 weeks
Class enrollment: 5 maximum | 16 maximum
This class will develop vocal technique, an advanced musical theatre dance vocabulary, stage presence, and collaborative skills while working toward a final class performance of songs from two of Broadway’s most popular musicals Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen!

Classes will not meet the week of district 7 spring break, March 30-April 3, 2020.

 

 

This class will meet weekly on Thursdays for 10 weeks starting Thursday, February 20, 2020. The final class will be on Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Actor's Studio: Act 2
Tuesdays | Grades 9th-12th | 4:00-6:00pm | $185 | 12 weeks
Class enrollment: 5 minimum | 12 maximum
For students who have had previous experience onstage, Actor’s Studio is an advanced course designed for intermediate to advanced actors looking to hone their craft and prepare for the professional world. Students will explore scenes and monologues from contemporary and classical plays and study techniques from different acting masters throughout history. Actors interested must have an intermediate level of theatre concepts and vocabulary, and must submit a pre-screen application.
