K4-K5 STUDENTS

SYT summer camps are open to children in the rising K4-12th grades. Rising K4-K5 students must be fully potty-trained and able to use the bathroom by themselves. SYT staff may not change diapers nor enter the bathroom with a child.

Whether you are an aspiring performer or designer or just want to build confidence and make new friends, the Spartanburg Youth Theatre is the place to be! Camps are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please remember to register early, as many of our camps fill up quickly.
TUITION

Tuition may be paid in full at the time of registration or through a payment plan set up automatically through CourseStorm. Payment plans are only available for camps over $100. You can choose the payment plan option at checkout when you register.
SCHOLARSHIPS

The scholarship application deadline has passed.

Scholarship applicants will be notified of their scholarship status no later than May 23, 2022 at the Parent/Guardian 1 email address listed in the application.

Early registration discount does not apply to K4-K5 camps.

CANCELLATION

If you cancel more 7 days before the first day of your camp, tuition less a $30 Camp Cancellation Fee will be refunded. If you cancel less than 7 days before the first day of your camp, only a refund or credit of 50% of the tuition cost will be issued.

Once camps have started, no refunds will be given.

IMAGINATION & PLAY
Rising K4-K5
Monday to Friday | 9:00-11:00am
5 minimum | 8 maximum

Our one-week camps for rising K4-K5 explore creative play, music and art, while learning acting and storytelling techniques. Classes at this age are intended to help ignite the imagination and encourage group play. There will not be a play or performance in classes for this age range, but rather a sharing of activities.

Dragons Love Tacos
July 18-22 | Rising K4-K5 | 9am-11am | 8 maximum | $95
Do you know what dragons love? Tacos of course! Join the taco party of all taco parties with your favorite dragon friends from the New York Times bestselling book. Just don’t feed them spicy salsa!

ACTOR-IN-TRAINING
Rising 1st-2nd grade
Monday to Friday | 9am-12pm
5 minimum | 8 maximum

Our one-week camps for 1st-2nd graders continue to develop teamwork, self-expression, and imagination, while introducing acting techniques and stage movement skills through a specific fun setting or theme. Classes at this age are intended to introduce young children to the concepts of theatre, and encourage group play. There will not be a play or performance in classes for this age range, but rather a sharing of activities.
Superheroes Unite
July 25-29 | Rising 1st-2nd grade | 9am-12pm | 8 maximum | $150
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a superhero! Create your own supergirl or suberboy complete with super-suit and extraordinary powers!

TECHNIQUE & PERFORMANCE
Rising 3rd-6th grade
Monday to Friday | Varying times depending on camp
5 minimum | 12-16 maximum
Tuition $165 to $225
Our one-week camps for rising 3rd-6th graders introduce theatre techniques for those who are curious, and provide intermediate-level performance camps for those who are ready for the next step of the theatre process. Some camps at this age range will include a performance showcase of skills learned during class, but students will not be performing a full production, except for the Totally Red camp.
Totally Red
July 18-22 | 9am-5pm | 16 maximum | $225
Little Red Riding Hood gets a remix this summer! The story begins with a humorous version in storybook theatre style, then continues with different retellings of the story, told in multiple styles: melodrama, Elizabethan, '80s hip-hop, and avant-garde. The story of Little Red Riding Hood has never been more fun, or hilarious! This camp will end with a performance of the play Totally Red, complete with set, props and costumes!

Musical Theatre: Annie & Newsies
August 1-5 | 9:00am-12:30pm | 16 maximum | $165
The sun will come out and seize the day! Set in the style of a musical revue, students will learn introductory singing and dancing techniques through songs and choreography from the hit musicals Annie and Newsies.

Audition Prep: Musical Theatre

Get ready for your next musical audition! This summer is the perfect time to work on your craft and get audition ready. This camp will coach you on audition etiquette and help you pick out a song that is perfect for you!

STORYBOOK LIVE! CAMPS
Rising 5th-12th grade
Monday to Friday | 9am-5pm
5 minimum | 11-12 maximum

Our one-week Storybook Live! camps for rising 5th-12th graders provide a full-production performance opportunity for young actors. SYT premiered its virtual series Storybook Live! to rave reviews in the 2020-2021 season. In these camps, actors will film storybooks that will be sent to schools for the 2022-23 school year and included in SYT’s Storybook Live virtual library.
PLEASE NOTE: Students interested in a Storybook Live (rising 5th-12th grade) Production Camp should have relevant acting experience through a class/camp at SYT or elsewhere and/or previous stage experience. Please fill out the Storybook Live! (rising 5th-12th grade) pre-screen application by clicking HERE. A follow-up audition may be required based off the application. If you qualify, you will be emailed instructions to enroll online within one week of submitting your application.
The Good Egg
July 25-29 | 9am-5pm | Rising 5th-12th grade | 12 maximum | $225

For students with relevant acting experience through an SYT class/camp or elsewhere, this camp will film and produce the next storybook in SYT’s virtual series Storybook Live! Actors in this camp will be in the cast for a Storybook Live! performance of the book The Good Egg by Jory John and Pete Oswald.
Meet the good egg. He’s a verrrrrry good egg indeed. But trying to be so good is hard when everyone else is plain ol’ rotten. As the other eggs in the dozen behave badly, the good egg starts to crack from all the pressure of feeling like he has to be perfect. So, he decides enough is enough! It’s time for him to make a change…!

Our one-week camps for rising 7th-12th graders provide intermediate theatre training, as well as performance opportunities where the cast will put together a production in one-week!
