MEET OUR SUMMER STAFF!
Ashley Crane is thrilled to be back at SYT where she grew up performing. After graduating from Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Cinema/TV program and working with SYT to launch screen acting classes, Ashley moved to NYC to work with Industry Leading Acting Coaches Denise Simon, Penny Templeton, Bob Marks, T. Schreiber, and ReelArc! Ashley’s clients have worked on- and off- Broadway, gone on National Tours, and worked on shows like John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch, Saturday Night Live, I Am Frankie, Victorious, and more! She has had the opportunity to act up and down the east coast, and write for film, television, and theatre! When she’s not at SYT, studying in her adult acting class, coaching NYC clients over Zoom, or writing, she loves hanging out with her Shih Tzu Maddie and rock climbing! She cannot wait to meet all of you this summer and have a blast creating with you!

K. Ray Jones performs at theatres all across the upstate – Spartanburg Little Theatre, Centre Stage, Glow Lyric Theatre, The Warehouse and Proud Mary Theatre Company. He was also the theatre/drama teacher at High Point Academy. He strives to teach students the possibility of creating, especially in roles like Sebastian in The Little Mermaid at the Spartanburg Little Theatre. When not onstage, Ray teaches at Cyclebar Spartanburg and travels all over as a front man with the Emerald Empire party band company. Ray challenges students to always find joy in imagination and play regardless of their age.
Teaching this summer: Musical Theatre: The Greatest Showman & Matilda (August 2-6)
LeRoy Kennedy is from Greenville, SC and holds a Bachelors of Music in music education from the University of South Carolina and a Masters of Music in choral conducting from Winthrop University. He has taught at Hillcrest High School, Chester High School, Wren Middle School and Robert Anderson Middle School as choral director and has music directed/vocal coached/acted and/or stage directed over 40 musicals and various dinner theaters. He has worked with or been on the stages of Greenville Little Theatre, Clemson Little Theatre, Foothills Playhouse, South Carolina Children’s Theatre, Centre Stage, Warehouse Theatre, Spartanburg Little Theatre, and Spartanburg Youth Theatre. Some of his leisure time involves reading, traveling, enjoying movies and spending time with his 14-year-old daughter. He currently serves as music director at Augusta Heights Baptist Church and is Director of high school choral activities at Southwood Academy of the Arts in Anderson School District 5.

Adam Sanders has been the Artistic Director of SYT since 2015. Adam grew up in Spartanburg and developed his love for theatre at SYT. He loves leading the theatre that raised him! He previously worked with the South Carolina Children's Theatre as a teaching artist, director, and touring actor. Adam has directed many productions, including Disney's Aladdin Jr., Mamma Mia, Seussical Jr., Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach Jr., HONK! Jr., 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, Junie B. Jones the Musical, The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs, Those Magic Changes, Godspell, and Diary of a Worm, a Spider and a Fly. Adam is recently married and loves married-life! When not at the theatre, you may see him riding at CycleBar Spartanburg, or spending time with his beautiful wife!

Mary Thalassinos is a graduate of Wofford College where she received a B.A. in theatre. A Spartanburg native, she is proud to be working with the theater that embraced her as a child! After taking a youth theatre course in college, Mary interned with SYT the summer of 2018. Some of the classes Mary has had the extreme pleasure of teaching include, Musical Theatre: Beetlejuice & Mean Girls, Disney’s Onward, Fantasy Lands and Far-off Places, and Musical Theatre: Broadway Royals. In addition to working with SYT, Mary has also sound designed for Wofford Theatre.

Connor Vetter is an actor, director, and acting teacher based in Spartanburg, SC. She graduated from Wofford College with a B.A. in theatre, and studied acting at the Moscow Art Theatre School in 2012. When she isn't making raucous Shakespeare plays with local theatre troupe Scrappy Shakespeare or splitting sides with Spartanburg's first, finest, and only improv team, Sparkle City Improv, you can catch Connor hanging out with her cats, eating spicy noodles, and watching Netflix. She is so thrilled to be returning for her fourth summer with SYT and can't WAIT to have you in camp. Whether we're making a storybook, staging a production, or working on comedy scenes, we're gonna have an absolute BLAST!

Jamie Ann Walters is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and holds her Bachelor’s in musical theatre from James Madison University. She is the Marketing and Development manager at Greenville Theatre and a member of the theatre’s Resident Acting Company where she has had the opportunity to perform as Nancy in Oliver!, Evelyn Nesbit in Ragtime, and Charlotte in Charlotte’s Web, among others. She has been a theatre instructor and private voice/audition/performance coach for almost 3 years. Jamie is looking forward to teaching camps this summer! She can’t wait to learn, work hard, have lots of fun, and make some musical theatre memories with you all!

Tiffany Wright is a Converse College alumni who began her dance training at the age of three. Since then, she has danced with multiple dance companies including the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the American Ballet Theatre, where she performed as a demi-soloist for the 2014 summer intensive. She has trained in multiple forms of dance including ballet, jazz, modern, and Irish step. Tiffany has performed in multiple Spartanburg Little Theatre performances including her favorite Legally Blonde as the role of Serena. Since then, she has helped to choreograph Smokey Joe's Café and The Rocky Horror Show at the Spartanburg Little Theatre. Tiffany is passionate about learning and is fulfilling her dream of becoming a fourth grade teacher.

MEET OUR INTERNS!
Caroline Byce has lived in Spartanburg her whole life and has a special place in her heart for the Spartanburg Youth Theatre. It was her involvement at SYT that really solidified her love for the arts. She is currently a rising sophomore at Anderson University pursuing a BFA in Acting. She is honored and thrilled to be working as an intern this summer!
Edie Dominick is a rising junior at Anderson University where she is double majoring in dance and theatre design. She has danced all of her life, and most recently performed in Xanadu with Anderson University. She loves performing just as much as she loves working behind the scenes! She has experience as a lighting designer, stage manager, and choreographer. She works hard to learn as much as she can and loves to be all hands on with different projects. “I am so excited to be an intern with SYT this summer! I love working with kids and I love all of the experience and exposure to the many different sides of theatre I am able to obtain here.”
Abbie Lemaster is a sophomore at the College of Charleston. She is a Theatre for Youth major, and has spent the last year in downtown Charleston, SC. She loves teaching, and is studying to be a theatre teacher. Abbie works at Starbucks in addition to studying and doing theatre. When she isn’t writing essays or in voice lessons, she’s making coffee and saving up! She is very excited for this summer at the Spartanburg Youth Theatre!
Alex Poteat is absolutely ecstatic to be returning for his second summer as an intern for the Spartanburg Youth Theatre! Alex graduated from Boiling Springs High School, and is currently attending Converse College as a Musical Theatre major. Alex has participated in multiple productions in the upstate such as Mamma Mia! at the Spartanburg Little Theatre, Bright Star at the Tryon Little Theatre, Tick… Tick… Boom! at USC Upstate. His most recent project was a musical theatre performance showcase The Promise of Tomorrow at Converse College. Alex assistant directed/production managed Spartanburg Youth Theatre’s Storybook Live! production of The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes. “Theatre has the power to create joy, inspire passion, and enrich lives, and I am absolutely honored to be a part of the SYT’s brilliant team that shares these values with all of it’s participants. I can’t wait for another summer full of acting, singing, dancing, and fun!”
